The Counter-Sniper Sonnet - Today's poem is an original work by myself about snipers on the field of battle:

Welcome to my lair, dear Colonel,
I doubt you'll enjoy your time here.
You're my target, so prep for the eternal,
you'll soon catch my high-speed spear.

I've ranged the field, considered every tree,
like a black widow weaving her web.
just a little closer, and soon you will see
that your command of your life will ebb.

I hope your wife has preparations made,
to deal with the end of your duty.
In silent repose you will be portrayed,
Her spring beauty ―

he forgot to check & protect his oblique.
