April 22nd, 2005 Drinks - We celebrate the best. movie. ever. with today's drink, the Casablanca:
Shake with ice and strain into a glass. Alcohol was everywhere in that movie, but that doesn't mean you
have to drink like Bad case of the blahs - Felt like writing this morning, but by the time noon rolled around I had lost any semblance of inspiration. I need to break out of this rut. I could write about Earth Day, but everyone knows that the Earth is still here, so its not as if there's anything we need to save. I could write about the Senate's delay in the judicial situation or the House's Delay and the accusations thrown at him in order to get him thrown out, but those are both boring as all get out to anyone not interested in politics. I could write about media bias, but we know they bury the lede and mischaracterize quotes. I could write about how despicable the terrorists are who shot down the helicopter and murdered the sole survivor, but that wouldn't change the attitudes of the Democratic Underground or Markos Zuniga. Its hard being a blogger these days if all you look at is the negative effects of the actions taken in the world around you. It becomes all to easy to get depressed and lose any impetus for writing. So how am I breaking out of this? First, I pray about it and God tells me "lighten up, its not such a hard cross to bear." Then I realize that its supposed to be for fun. So what is fun for me? Reading. Do yourself a favor, go pick up a copy of Rise to Rebellion, then remember that not only could things be a lot worse, but that things are a lot better than they were. |
