April 20th, 2005

That irony must hurt - Garry Kasparov got hit with a chessboard by someone who doesn't like his opposition to Vladimir Putin. I suppose that's one way to take out the king of the board.

Historical reference - Monday was the 230th anniversary of Paul Revere's famous ride, hence the header this week. Of course, I couldn't have him warning that I was coming, as that would put me in the place of the British. Likewise he couldn't say "The bloggers are coming!" although Dan Rather & several others would probably have appreciated a warning like that.

I see the bloggers as the Colonists in this analogy. But that puts us on the losing side of a great many battles, which presents a conundrum - for if this is a revolution who is our Washington? Who is our Adams, Jefferson, and Henry?

For that matter, who is our Gates, Cornwallis, and Tarleton?

The New Pope - You know, the more people who advocate the acceptance of sin in the Catholic Church attack and admonish Pope Benedict XVI, the more confident I am about the College of Cardinal's ability to hear & obey the will of the Holy Spirit. The NY Times, LA Times, Andrew Sullivan, and even my local AZ Red Star are all apoplectic about the fact that a genuine Catholic has become pope.

On a lighter note, does anyone else think Pope B16 looks a little too much like Anthony Hopkins?

Blogging at work - This habit I have of scribbling things down at work and posting them the next day has got to stop, its just not a practical way to blog. The DSL modem died this morning, and I've spent the entire morning (until about 1 PM) fixing the problem. Hence, the late post today. No excuse for yesterday, except I was lazy.

Unknown Blog - Simian Farmer, who also has an interesting take on Pope Benedict XVI.
