Poetry Carnival Reminder - Don't forget, the Carnival of Poets is April 15th, submissions due the day before. Go to http://carnivalofpoets.blogspot.com for more details.

The Warrior Creed - The particulars of SFC Paul Smith's Medal of Honor actions can be found in great detail here, including his full list of awards. I've updated the medal board that sits below my poem about him, go take a look. The ceremony will be held Monday.

Picking At Nits - Victor Davis Hanson is swinging his usual par in today's NRO article, but I have a minor quibble with him. He says:

It was not just idealism but rather abject desperation that fueled the so-called neoconservative quest to try something new.

I disagree. It was idealism on the part of optimist neoconservatives and abject desperation on the part of pessimist neoconservatives. As far as GWB is concerned, I would put him in the former category, rather than the latter.

Also on NRO, John Miller shares my sentiments about Daylight Saving Time. Tell me again why we have to go through such an asinine game of tiddlywinks? Oh, that's right, because the government says so.

And as I close, the Pope closes as well - We live in significant times. In my lifetime I've seen the fall of Communism, the rise (and falling) of Islamofacism, and now, probably a new pope. Who knows how long I'll live, and what I'll see.

This is why I think everyone should keep a diary/journal/autobiography. Give some perspective to those in the future.
