Daylight Saving Time Again - So apparently everyone else (mostly) in the US thought it was a good idea to change their clocks without telling me. Now I have to listen to the first hour of the Hugh Hewitt show tape delayed, though the 2nd & 3rd are still live.

Will someone tell me, again, why this is a good idea?

SAWs Not Found In Your Average Workshop - The M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) is the gun o' the day:

It shoots the 5.56 mm NATO cartridge, the same as our friend the M-16. It can take either the M-16 magazine or a belt, as pictured above. You can learn all about its operation in Field Manual 23-14. The weapon is well-loved by the troops in the field, though it is showing signs of age. The Army adopted it 20 years ago, and the ones in Iraq are, according to some reports, falling apart. The Army is considering replacing it, as just about every M-249 in use is in need of some form of repair. But 134,000 new weapons is an expensive proposition.

134,000 newly designed guns, however, untested in combat and unfamiliar to the troops, is likely to be a much more expensive, in both men and dollars. I think we should keep the weapon, though perhaps update it to the 6.8 Remington SPC that the Special Forces have been using. That would give a little more firepower to the troops, which would be a welcome change.

They Fought The Law And The Law Won - About these protesters for Terri. There are good ways of protesting and bad ways. Trying to break into her room and water her is bad, for two reasons: 1) pouring water into her mouth will likely kill her, as she has no ability to swallow. HENCE THE FEEDING TUBE. 2) It requires violence when all non-violent means have not been exhausted. That puts you, morally, on the side of those who would wish to kill her, though not as far along that spectrum as they are. But it is definitely across the line that should not be crossed.

CUT IT OUT! You're making the rest of us look bad.

You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off! - Michael Caine is fun. Best Buy's clearance rack had the DVD of the original Italian Job on sale, so I picked up a copy for $6. Good purchase, as the one-liners are funny. The remake did justice to the original, as far as I'm concerned. If you see it for a good price, pick it up.
