Trusting your enemy to play nice - Canadia has decided to opt out of the U.S. missile defense shield. I wonder if that means they will yell at us if they get hit by a nuclear missile. I also wonder what the NORAD commanders will do if they see one headed for Canadia. Will they shoot to intercept?

I would. An attack on Canadia is likely a prelude to an attack on the U.S. Though why anyone would attack Canadia is beyond me.

People think the system won't work because it doesn't work now. That's as valid a prediction as one made in 1960 that said we would never get into space because our rockets kept blowing up on the pad.

Oh well. Better to have something that works half the time than to have nothing at all.

Welcome History Carnival Readers - I hope you enjoyed my entry. My main interests are military, Christianity, espionage, poetry, guns, and computers, not necessarily in that order. Take a look around, stay a bit, and feel free to add MM.net to your blogroll.

The weekly schedule is simple: Monday are for guns, Tuesdays stamps, Wednesdays unknown blogs, Thursdays poetry, Fridays are for cocktails. Content varies from day to day, but generally I am to right of most. Expect commentary along those lines.

%$^@%$#$%# Drudge! - He's had pop-ups for as long as I can remember. Now he's even got a mechanism going that can beat FireFox. Damn you, Drudge! Damn you!

I need a stiff drink - Karl. Rove. Gave. Maureen. Dowd. Roses. Seriously.

Recently he is reported to have dropped his torches and hatchets and given Dowd, who had complained to him that her Republican sister liked him better than she liked Maureen, a bouquet of flowers, including roses and carnations. He attached a card that read "Just remember, your family does love you and not everyone hates you."

How about a Four Roses Cocktail? Sounds stiff to me.

  • 4 measures of Four Roses Bourbon (I never heard of it either)

  • 2 measures dry vermouth

  • 1/2 measure white crème de menthe

  • 1 dash angostura bitters

Shake over ice & strain into a cocktail glass, serve with a lemon twist.

I suppose the news that Karl is romancing one of GWB's witless adversaries might be enough to start him drinking again. But then again, probably not. He has learned self control, after lacking it for a long time. But better to not have self control and to gain it than to lose it and not care.
