Assassinage - Remember that iFilm independent short by that title? That's what the recent kerfuffle about Eason Jordan reminds me about, with Jordan in the part of the sniper. It has been reported that at the economic conference in Davos, Switzerland that Eason claimed the US Military had deliberately targeted journalists, perhaps as many as twelve, for assassination. Start here for background, then proceed through the CNN category Captain Ed has.

These are serious charges. If Eason Jordan thinks journalists have been targeted by the Military he should do his duty as a journalist: investigate and report. If he won't do that he shouldn't be credited as being a journalist. I think the charges are false and baseless. If he wants to know what targeting a journalist is like, I think he's about to find out. If he's telling the truth he had better come up with the names of some dead journalists and how they died, right quick. If not, he might become the first "journalist" to lose his job because of a blog-instigated investigation.

A Marine Speaks His Mind - I love General Mattis' bluntness. The kerfuffle with him is over a few quotes, notably "Actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. You know, it's a hell of a hoot. ... It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right upfront with you, I like brawling." and "You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."

I have more sympathy with the second quote than the first. I can't agree that shooting some people is fun, but that's not to say I have any sympathy for the dead he refers to. He's right about the amount of manhood left in a male who slaps a woman, and I doubt that anyone would mind if he drew some fun from capping mama boy Osama bin Laden.

I need content? - Jeremy thinks so. He passed the music baton to me, so here we go.

Random 10 Albums Semi-Sorta Randomly pulled from my collection

  1. Star Wars Soundtrack, Boxed Set - bought before the special editions came out. About as original as you can get.

  2. Americana Deluxe by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

  3. Soundtrack to The Civil War by Ken Burns

  4. Solo by Yo Yo Ma

  5. A Patriotic Band Tunes CD whose exact name I can't remember right now

  6. Untitled - Benjamin Gate

  7. Hilary Hahn Plays Bach

  8. A-Team Soundtrack

  9. Better Is One Day - Passion

  10. Dr. No Soundtrack

What is the total amount of music files on your computer?

     Probably about 3 gigs.

The last CD you bought is:

Elgar: Violin Concerto; Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending, by Hilary Hahn.

What is the song you last listened to before this message?

Surfin' with the Alien by Joe Satriani

Five songs that you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.

  1. Steve Tyrell - So Nice (the song I danced to with Jennifer on our engagement night)

  2. The Neptunes - Wildcat 325 (fun)

  3. The Eagle - Get Over It (fun)

  4. Joe Satriani - Motorcycle Driver (fun)

  5. John Williams - Duel of the Fates, Star Wars 1 soundtrack (fun)

Who are you gonna pass this stick to? (5 persons and why)

  1. Chris the bro-in-law - I'm curious about his music prefs

  2. Joyella - just because

  3. The Spanish Inquisition - just because

  4. Hamilton's Pamphlets - just because

  5. Rachel Lucas - just because

Poetry - I updated The Star-Spangled Necklace, go re-read it if you want. Jennifer noted some readability problems, so I edited it to flow a bit better. The ribbon board I generated from the Institute of Heraldry page based the criteria listed there. It's a minimum set because I don't have his full service record. I will gladly update it if anyone has any verifiable info on that.

The Aviation Cocktail - shake 2 oz. gin, half an ounce maraschino liqueur, and a quarter ounce lemon juice over ice. Strain into cocktail glass & garnish with a cherry.

Don't. Get. Drunk. If you drink, don't drive. It's no fun having to explain to your insurance company why you plowed your car into a telephone pole, let alone some little girl's bedroom or another car.
