An Open Letter To F. Ann Rodriguez
Dear Mrs. Rodriguez:
My name is Matthew Scott Maynard. I married my wife on May 28th, 2004. Shortly before that, in the beginning of May, I moved from mid-Tucson (near Broadway and Country Club) to northwest Tucson (Ina and La Cholla). I originally registered as a voter in Tucson on October 3rd, 1999. Following our return from our honeymoon in mid-June my wife and I re-registered at our new address. Our voter registration cards were received shortly thereafter.
In approximately mid-July we received a Voter Notification Card for one Jesse Lee Petrofski Jr. at our new apartment on the northwest side. It was addressed to our apartment number and the voter was registered as a member of the Democrat party. The date of registration was July 9th, 2004 - fully two months after we had taken residence at the apartment. In August we received a duplicate of the same card, bearing the same address.
Because of numerous reports in the media about voter disenfranchisement and fraud I am concerned that my address may have been used to defraud the electoral process. I am slightly reassured that this may not be the case; when I voted today I was asked to produce my voter notification card. My hope is that this is a case of a misread registration card. Perhaps the address was read incorrectly. However, a search of various public phone registries turned up only one J. Petrofski - in North Carolina.
I would appreciate your looking into this matter. Attached are scanned copies of my old voter registration card (my wife and I recently purchased a home and have re-registered at that address) and the Petrofski card.
Sincerely,
Matthew S. Maynard
Tucson, AZ

The voter IDs have been hidden for this publishing. My copy to the county recorder had the numbers included.
