Work
Ugliest. Phone. Ever.

New phones were installed today at work. We are now using the Toshiba DKT-3010-S, replacing the AT&T 954. My first thought upon seeing the new voice box was "wow, that's one ugly phone".

The old:

The new:

The picture doesn't convey the box-like look of the new phone. Its about as personal and unobtrusive as Lubyanka Square in downtown Moscow, and at least as attractive. Its necessary, in the sense that prisons and business communications are necessary, but it clashes in a most crude way with the rest of the office.

The old phone was more rounded, with smoother lines and less garish buttons, more color (or at least less black), and a lower profile. But they didn't work. At least not for what the sales team wanted and needed to do. So replacements were bought, and we have training Thursday.

Two hours are scheduled. Talk about adding insult to injury. It's just a phone, why does it have to be so complex?
