The Venus Transit

From the "Blinded-by-the-light...with appologies to Bruce Springsteen" Department
Matt had brought up the topic of the Venus Transit before. Well, today was the day it happened.

There were LOTS of pictures taken, you can click the link above for some, or visit My site for a REALLY NEAT looking one.

Aside, don't mind the Klingons, they're just trying to make The Voyage Home

Share and Enjoy!

The transit of Venus was one of the reasons that Captain James Cook went to the South Seas, to the Island of Tahiti. They observed the transit of Venus from Tahiti in 1769 at Point Venus on Matavai Bay. This is on the North shore of Tahiti and East of Papeete, along the coast. It is also where Lt. Bligh anchored and gathered breadfruit, with the "Bounty".
