Guns & Ammo
The Kel-Tec SU-16 Rifle

I went to the gun shop at lunch today, as I am wont to do, and was drooling over the CVA .50 caliber frontstuffer at West of the Pecos. I would like it as a wedding gift, but Jennifer won't budge. Then I went next door to Jensen's and saw the Kel-Tec SU-16. Its a .223 caliber semi-auto magazine fed fun gun. It can hold magazines in the stock and eats rounds from M-16 standard mags. It's light as a feather and has an integrated Picatinny Rail, so you know its built for plinking. At a shade under $580, It's a little expensive, but quite a bit cheaper than the M-16/AR-15 it can call its father.

Oh, and did I mention that its gas-operated mechanism uses a piston instead of the M-16 style gas-blowback system? Makes for easier maintenance.

Yeah, its on my wish list.

Purchased a Kel-tec su-16, after shooting 40 or 50 rounds using the factory mags I decided to use a 30 round AR mag. The barrel and front grip was rather hot at the time. After the first shot the steel case Wolf shell stuck in the chamber and wouldn't extract, didn't have a cleaning rod with me so had to end that days shooting with the gun. Next time out brought the rod with me. after 200 rounds barrel real hot front polymer stock part begins smoking a little and can barely hold it because of the heat, another shell stuck in chamber easily detracted because brought rod with me. Used an OKO red dot sight 150yds hit man size target 9 out of 10 times standing up. Front bipod stock flimsy and not very usuable without worrying about breaking it. Other than the minor inconveniences fun gun to shoot accurate enough, versatile uses, and looking forward to going out with brass cased ammo seeing if have same problem.

Just bought a SU-16 a few weeks ago shoots great, much lighter than my issued M-16. Also easy to clean. A little more complex to field strip. The only bad thing so far is the factory sights, well the suck.
