Explain this one to me, please
Ariel Sharon offers to unilaterally withdraw from the Gaza Strip, giving the Palestinians one of the things they want.
President Bush endorses the plan.
The Palenstinians reject it?
I don't get it. They get at least part of what they want, and they are still in a position to negotiate for more. Ask any homeless man what he would prefer: half a loaf or none. He'll always say half. I can understand why Israelis would oppose it (it fundamentally undermines their security), but that is the reason the Palestinians would support it.
I don't think its a good idea, since it would establish a terrorist-supporting nation in the heart of a democracy in the Middle East. Not good for regional stability. But the Palestinian attitude of all-or-nothing is ridiculous.
