Garden Harvest - IV

Following closely on the heels of the onions episode from earlier, I was out in the garden this morning, as I am wont to do, and I decided to yank a few of the garlic plants.

Actual garlic, not to be confused with onions.

You can clove these! Note the difference between these leaves and the leaves of the onion. Jennifer and I had the onion soup last week, and it was good, but it was missing the garlic. I planted onions and carrots in place of the pulled garlic, so whoever tends the garden after I move out in a week (hint hint, roomates) can have an onion soup as well.

Maynard's Onion Soup

  • onions, diced (1 cup or so)
  • carrots, sliced (1 cup or so)
  • garlic, pressed (2 or 3 cloves)
  • hamburger, browned (1 pound)
  • spices, lots
Put all ingredients in a big pot of boiling water. Boil for 10-15 minutes or until carrots are tender. Lower heat and let simmer for another 10-15. Serve with bread and butter. Best with a friend.
