Where were the bombers? Over Tokyo

On April 18th, 1942, 16 B-25s took off from the deck of the USS Hornet, bound for Tokyo. Their targets were various manufacturing plants, but the main goal of the mission was not actual destruction of industry. It was destruction of pride, of haughtiness, and of the Japanese sense of invincibility. It worked, and it boosted the morale of the US tremendously. The remaining crewmembers were in Tucson this past weekend. Here's another link to the Doolittle Raiders.

The Doolittle Raid: not the Kerry anti-terror campaign promise, but a genuine military victory.
