Tucson, we have a problem

The mountain lion hunt in Sabino Canyon has been called off, the Canyon repoens tomorrow, and I'm pissed.

Warning: severe screediness follows.

Cowards.

Imbeciles.

AZGFD has been tracking these incidents for almost a year and they finally decide to do something. Then, a bunch of environmental buffoons decides to throw a fit because they feel the lion's pain or some other such nonsense, resulting in a search to find the lions. Not for the purpose of killing them, oh no, no reason to do that. The AZGFD decides to "relocate them", despite this quote:

Relocating mountain lions is not an option. It would be irresponsible to move a public safety liability to a new location.
Double minded twitwits.

Some child is going to be maimed or killed because of the utter foolishness and remarkable short-sightedness of a few jackasses from Earth First. According to the KOLD article listed above,

"The springing of traps, the laying of false scents, the monitoring of the hunt which distracted the hunters’ attention from hunting the lions all led to this hunt being cancelled I believe," [Earth First’s Rod] Coronado said.
The have no concern for human life. Their behavior is reprehensible, and they should be thrown in jail for the maximum incarceration allowed by law, following a due conviction.

Their argument is that it is the humans that are the problem, that we are encroaching on their space, therefore, they should be allowed to roam free, undeterred by more human interference than they have already had to endure.

Horse apples and cow pies.

The amount of human "encroachment" is a relative measure of the size of our city versus what the environmentalists, in their infinite wisdom, think it should be. It is nothing more than a measure of their opinion, and in this case, is complete bravo sierra. If a man wants to buy a house on the edge of a forest/canyon/field, he should be allowed to do so, all other things (of human relations) being equal. If he displaces an animal in the course of doing so, I have no sympathy for the animal, since a human life is more valuable than the life of a beast.

Well, one might say, why not just carry a personal defense weapon in Sabino Canyon? Well, the answer to that is simple. The effective ones are banned, while the ineffective ones are not. Tasers/spark guns and pepper sprays are allowed, but by the time the animal reaches a range where they can be used, you are already the animals lunch.

Firearms are not allowed in the canyon.

The environmentalists have succeeded, for all practical purposes, in shutting down my access to the canyon. I will not now go in their unarmed, yet I cannot in good conscience break the law. They have created an environment hostile to people and friendly towards animals. This is an example of their general agenda, wherein they put animals an plants in a place of more importance than humans. Their claim is that we must be able to live "sustainably" with nature, yet their practice is to separate us from it. They admit that our very existence on this planet requires us to adapt to nature but they refuse to allow us the means to do so.

Their actions in this matter have jeopardized lives. Mr. Coronado should be the first one sued if and when an unfortunate incident such as a mountain lion attack occurs.
