Will Play Bach for Money

KUAT FM, the local PBS classical music radio station, is having another begging pledge drive today. This is when they play 1 minute of music for every 3 minutes of senseless chatter. Their threat: give us $65,000 or we'll keep talking and not play the music.

Why is it that there are no commercially supported classical music stations? It makes no sense to me, unless there is not enough of a market for one. Are companies not willing to spend money advertising on one? Or are there too many governmental restrictions on broadcasting, ones which make the cost of market entry too high?

Personally, I'm glad to write for ammo.
