12/08/2003 Entry: "Hobbitry?" Posted by Maynard @ 09:15 PM MST Hobbitry? According to this, Peter Jackson may do The Hobbit after he remakes King Kong. Although this is a good thing, given how he has treated the LOTR story so far, it does put him squarely in the same movie-making camp as George Lucas: big on special effects and let some other big name write the story. Whatever happened to story writers like Dashiell Hammett, with stories like The Maltese Falcon? A relatively complex story made into a relatively simple movie: not big on special effects, it pours its creative effort into the characters and plot. Sigh.
