Movie Reviews
My name ... is Muerte

There are some movies that I wonder how I ever missed. Like Fletch, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Raising Arizona. Undercover Blues is one of those. Jeremy rented it from NetFlix and we watched it tonight. It's hilarious.

It's Dennis Quaid and Kathleen Turner as two government officials on maternity leave. They get pulled back in on an assignment to find a highly unstable explosive that's been stolen from the Army by a ex-communist Czech. They have to chase her down and retrieve the explosives, while all the time maintaining their cover as vacationing vacuum salesmen/airline pilots/whatever. Oh, and an added bonus would be getting thge Czech to leave the country voluntarily, since she can't be shot or arrested.

It's really funny.

There are elements in it from Dirty Harry, Fletch, and Grosse Pointe Blank. Although there is a measure of sexuality in the movie, it is at least within a married couple and constrained to only innuendo, not outright Clinton-level crudity. The focus isn't on that though. It's all about the one-liners and butt kickings, delivered in plenty throughout the movie. For instance:

My name ... is Muerte!
Nice to meet ya, Morty! My name's Jeff.

Jeff: I'm getting seriously pissed! (starts to torch the explosives)

Muerte (to Czech): My name is MORTY!
Jeff: Muerte.
Muerte: I kill you now.

I highly recommend it if you';re in the mood for an action comedy. Besides, the added baby learning to walk scenes are good too.
