The Best Super Bowl Commercials Ever ...
... were not seen in Super Bowl XXXVII. However, this year had some pretty good ones. The best ever, in my opinion, was the Frog Assassination series a few years ago from Budweiser. Read on for what I did this year on America's favorite holiday.
This year was like the past six: I spent it at the home of a friend from church with several other friends, watching the Super Bowl and eating various assorted goodies. This year I didn't really care about either team, I was rooting for the commercials. Go Pirates.
The first one after play started (which is the first one that counts as far as I'm concerned) was excellent. That was the horse football game getting reffed by the zebra. I just have one thing to say though: Now how is that supposed to sell beer? After that they were not so good, especially the
- Osbournes/Osmonds ad for Pepsi
- Pregnancy Test/Anti-Marijuana ad (especially after the sermon from my pastor Steve Hall encouraged parents to not receive news of pregnancy with anything but joy)
- 'Alias' commercials
The ad for the new Matrix movies was good, but it didn't really show very much about the movie that was new. I suppose a frame-by-frame analysis was up by the fourth quarter. Yes, I am going to see those when they come out.
The best commercial from this year was the Reebok commercial with Cubicle Tackling. There were more solid defensive hits in that commercial by one guy than in the entire game by the Raiders defense. "Our productivity has gone up 46%!" Only because the people who were dragging it down were taken out in a bone-crunching smackdown! You can get to the clips without registering here.
The halftime show was miserable, and that was a disgusting dress (?) Shania Twain was almost wearing. I did like the double-necked guitar that one of the guitarists was using: 12 strings on one neck and 6 on another.
Oh, and the fourth quarter was fun football to watch.
