The Summer Book List
Well, its summer. The staff of National Review has an article up detailing what they plan to read. I thought it would be nice to share my planned reading list.
The Influence of Sea Power upon History, 1660-1783, Alfred Thayer Mahan
One of the great treatises of naval power, it influenced Theodore Roosevelt in his thinking about American Naval Supremacy.
The Old Man and the Sea, Ernest Hemingway
I read an exerpt of it in high school, something about an unlucky old fisherman and a very large fish. Might as well get through all of it.
Battle Ready, Tom Clancy & Tony Zinni
The newest in the Commanders series, it arrived from Amazon last week. I got through chapter 1 last Thursday, and comments will come forth when I finish.
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Its summer in Arizona. What better book could I read that would get my mind off the 100 degree plus temperatures?
