It’s not fun, stealing your own bike. You can end up shedding blood, like I did.
I lost the key sometime in the last month or so, so I had to get a pair of bolt cutters and a new lock. Imagine that scene for a minute, if you will. A 150-lb. white boy attacking a bike lock with a pair of bolt cutters. The only reason no one called the cops was because I was in the garage behind my roomate’s car.
But aside from my petty larceny, it took a minute before I realized I couldn’t cut through the lock itself. So I attacked the link it was attached to. It took at least 2 minutes and the lever action of a workbench in order to get through that link. After that, I went at the second link. That one took even longer, and I had to sit on the bolt cutter in order to get it cut. I slipped and bruised my knuckles doing that (hence the shed blood). So buy Kryptonite, since a criminal trying to steal your bike would not be able to do so if he’s built like me.
I’m going back to watching my life Office Space on TV now.
