I loves me some stickball
For some reason this year, my baseball itch has started up stronger than any time I can remember since before I graduated high school. I’ve been watching highlights and games all weekend. Some favorites:
- Diamondbacks win 2 out of 3 matchups with the Reds
- The Red Sox and the Yankees both lose, but unfortunately not in the same game.
I’ve only been to one baseball game, way back in 1986. The Angels hosted the Red Sox, and lost 8-1, despite a late double by Reggie Jackson. They would meet again in the ALCS series that year, and Boston would again beat them to face the Mets. Of course, that was the year Bill Buckner missed the easy play at first in the sixth game of the World Series, allowing Ray Night to score and win the game.
That was the first series I watched, and somewhere, hopefully, my parents still have those games on VHS. The series is available on DVD now.
