A Danger of Bureaucracies
Ever wonder why bureaucracies tend to irritate those they serve and not care a whit about it?
I’m not saying that the people down at the DMV are the equivalent of the Nazi bureaucrats who tracked down Uncle Leo’s Kennkarte. I’m saying that needless (and in the case of the Nazis, evil) busywork “anesthetize[s] to ends through focus upon legalistic means.” The result is that the state bureaucrat doesn’t care if the farm is failing, they care if their particular form is properly filled out.
Consider and ponder. This is why we should care for our neighbors, so that we don’t grow callouses towards them instead of tendernesses.
