I will not stay home

There’s lots of talk around this year by people fearing that the Foley scandal will keep Evangelicals home on voting day.

I can’t speak for others, but as far as I’m concerned, I don’t need an excuse to go to vote. Voting to select my own government officials is my right, not as an American, but as a human. All people have the right to select their own government. The opportunity to do so is what is not even for all people, and for me to have the opportunity to vote but not exercise it would be to deny my birthright.

Anyone who has read Genesis knows there is peril in doing that. And anyone who has read this blog knows there is peril in voting for Democrats.

(Administrivia note: photos from the DC trip will be up tomorrow, after the camera battery is recharged.)

Evangelicals should NOT stay home! The consequences of the possibility of Democrats in control of either or both houses of Congress is too dangerous in today’s world. Recalling history is important right now. Everyone knows that the 1960 election was extremely close, so close in fact that the Democrat Party machine manufactured votes in Illinois’ Cook County to carry Illinois for Kennedy. That election turned Democrat on less than 10 votes per precinct in the critical states. In some cases it was 2-3 votes per precinct! If you are planning to stay home, think about the fact that YOUR lack of a vote may throw your precinct to the Democrat. Are you willing to be responsible for the Republican candidate losing YOUR precinct because of you NOT voting? Every vote counts, yours included! Talk to your neighbors and encourage them to vote, offer to take them to the polls with you. Ask your local Republican committee if you can help in the “Get Out the Vote” efforts. And don’t forget to encourage your neighbors to vote Republican! And make sure YOU VOTE!!! Vote for J.D. Hayworth, Jon Kyle, Randy Graf and all of the other Arizona Republican candidates! Vote for Sen. Allen, Santorum, DeWine, Chaffee (choke), Talent, Mike Steele, etc.

I’ll step off my soap box now and as soon as our early ballots gets here we’ll take our time and vote intelligently for the Republicans and on the Propositions here in AZ.

Evangelicals and anybody with an interest in our 2nd Amendment rights!

Lets move beyond just the get out the vote for the Right idea (which is a good enough idea in and of itself). Think about it from a Federalist perspective – rights are from God, to not exercise those rights is to not take advantage of the government our founders left to us. Not voting rejects the sacrifice made by the founders to “secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity”. It is, as I indicated above, an offense against God, and in light of what was laid down to secure those rights, an offense against man as well.

    Its your duty, damnit!

Duty, better said RESPONSIBILITY. In order to Preserve, Protect and Defend our Liberty, we must participate in our representative republic. That means exercising our vote, serving on juries, paying our taxes, participating in the dialog of issues, etc. God gave us this nation and its unique form of government. Therefore, we must be good stewards of His gift.
