Wanted: Spirit of Churchill
Courtesy of LGF comes the news that the British Union Jack is now considered a matador cape for terrorists. Its a good thing the US Congress made Winston Churchill an honorary US citizen. At least he’d feel at home somewhere.
I have the feeling, though, that this is just the childish reaction of bureaucrats in the middle echelons of policy management at the companies named in the article.
… Islamic protest forced some corporations, such as cable companies NTL, Heathrow airport in London, and even the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency to ban the flag in every form due to fears from reactions of Muslims.
The Sun tabloid newspaper has in recent days launched a campaign to bring back the flag, and has published a blacklist of companies preventing their workers from expressing their patriotism at work.
The Sun said that a large pub network has banned drinkers from entering with symbols of the national team.
It seems to me that our British cousins are still flying the Jack proudly, even if some of their bretheren have lost their sense of patriotic manhood.
