Why I vote the way I do
Why I vote the way I do – Dred Scott

The Judicial Branch of our Constitutional Republic is as necessary as the other two branches. It must be filled with justices that insist on that necessity but do not abuse it to the point of usurpation of the powers the Constitution separates.

Shamelessly stealing from Allah

You may have noticed on the left side of the page a check box that says “Links Open New Windows”. This was shamelessly stolen from Allah is in the house!, one of those sites that is better frequented for humor rather than political insight. When checked, it opens links in new windows, rather than the same one. This should help out you readers when I post FLATEOTM. It seems to cooperate with my popup blocker, but it may not with yours. YMMV.

QWest and Big Words

Work
QWest and Big Words

Digging through the stack of magazines that piled up on my desk over the honeymoon I come across an InfoWorld mag with an interesting ad in the back. Its from QWest, the “Baby” Bell in the West.

It has a woman standing with a laptop (how’s that for irony) in what appears to be a server closest room of some sort. I say appears because there are no servers around, just these tall, black-and-white closets. On the floor is a box with “QWEST ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS”, as if such a thing could be easily packaged and sold by the pallet-load.

Dominating the ad, however, is an odd word:

DE-
COM-
PLEX-
IFY.

Someone at QWest might want to realize their own ad advice is not being followed by their ad executives. “Simplify” would have worked just as well.

Marketeers. Sheesh.
